  • 00:00 Hi this is Justin with the showerhead store and in this video I'm going to show you how to replace. This older shower arm that's a bit worn off and this flange has loosened up and is coming off the wall. We just want to upgrade the quality of it and we're also gonna change out the finish to Chrome. This is solid brass. It's really hefty and what I like about this particular arm and flange. That is the flange is really thick. It's thick gauge metal and it has a set screw in it so that you can tighten the flange right down onto the shower arm. So it doesn't go sliding around like this. So I'll post that shower arm and flange in the notes below.

  • 00:53 So you can check it out for yourself jumping into how to remove this shower arm. It's pretty straightforward just gonna uh thread the shower arm going in a counterclockwise motion. You can leave the showerhead on there for leverage if you want or if you want to protect the showerhead because you're going to reuse it you may want to uninstall it prior to so just have a just about run here just to get it started so this shower head is really clogged up. So we're gonna be changing that to now the shower arm you can either try and just with your hand rotate it or you can take a screwdriver and stick it in there for some leverage and then just like that unwind it and there you go. The old shower arm is out. You can see.

  • 02:12 It's you know not in great condition and this flange is like cheap tin metal where the flange will be using. It's uh. It's solid uh. It's pretty solid. So the next part is taking the shower arm and sliding the flange over and then we're gonna put a teflon tape on this. So we'll be threading it.

  • 02:40 On this way all right clockwise. So we want to wrap the teflon tape this clockwise as well so it doesn't unwind as we're tightening it on to the threads in the wall. Definitely go heavy on the tape make sure that you get it on thick. You don't want it leaking back in the wall. There so get that nice nice and smooth and while you're at it. You can also do this side so both sides nice and coated there so pop back up.

  • 03:35 Pretty tall shower line it up with the threads and you can start cranking. It down use your the screwdriver trick here I want to get it nice and snug in there. Once you get it here it getting nice and snug you just you know one more time you just get it nice and squared up and then this guy get the flange nice and square. The wall is actually not very smooth but so there is a little bit of a gap in there. But that's something that we can get to with a with some silicon later or or plumber's putty that nice and tight and you can see. I can that's nice and snug on the wall there. So just like that you've gone from this to this nice. Clean look pretty simple and while you're updating your showerhead. It's a nice way to keep the whole shower looking. Fresh and new with the new shower arm thank you for checking us out at the showerhead store.
