00 There are numerous studies that prove and you might find this hard to believe that the kitchen is actually dirtier dirtier being the number of organisms in a space organisms like bacteria. 01:06 If you have a shower curtain you probably have a shower curtain liner as well. It's generally a white or clear plastic liner that goes on the inside of the tub and its job is to prevent water from spilling outside the tub while you're in there showering now if you're plastic if your shower curtain is plastic or vinyl and your shower curtain liner is plastic or vinyl. Both of these items can actually be cleaned by simply placing them in the washing machine with a couple of towels. Now you'll know the frequency of needing to wash these by simply looking at them. If you notice that there's a little bit of mold or mildew if they're turning kind of grey at the bottom gray brown that's soap scum and if they've got that kind of pinky oranjee buildup don't freak out that's just a naturally occurring bacteria that lives here in your bathroom. It's typically because it's a really moist environment and that stuff can all come out in the wash so take everything take. Those couple of towels take your shower curtain and your shower curtain liner put them into the washing machine regular cycle. You want to use cold water here because remember hot or warm water can actually melt plastic or vinyl so you want to avoid that also adding a full cup of baking soda and you want to put in 20 drops of tea tree essential oil because tea tree really helps to eliminate mold mildew and bacteria. So that way the towels will scrub it. In the wash your stuff will get nice and clean it'll come out without those stains. Hopefully it really should and then instead of putting them a dryer because that wouldn't make any sense. You're just gonna hang them right back up on your shower curtain raised and you're gonna let them drip dry into the tub. Now if your shower curtain is not plastic or vinyl. It might be a fabric that's machine washable in which case put it in with that load if it's dryclean only then just wash your shower curtain liner as we discussed and take your shower curtain to a dry cleaner.

09 Sometimes I'll read these articles online and they almost have this like fear-mongering aspect to them where they make you feel like your toilet bowl. Brush is just full of disgusting things and listen. It's no picnic. It's not a nice thing to think about it is kind of gross. I mean think about the job that it does but at the same time it's not like that's. This disgusting bacterial infested thing that you should you know never be touching and it's fine. It's fine. It's not going to kill you but the thing is the toilet bowl brush does have to be taken care of properly so that it can last and so that it isn't full of all that bacteria that you might think it is. So here are a few rules about using your toilet bowl brush. The first thing is to make sure that whenever you're using it you're using it with a cleaning product that way obviously the bowl is getting cleaned but the brush can be clean too toward the end. So if you want to make sure that your brush is being cleaned you don't want to take the time to clean it yourself. Finish doing your cleaning of the toilet squirt. A little bit of product on it you can take an edge of the bowl and give your brush a tiny little scrub. Then flush give your brush or rinse while the toilet bowl is flushing and then do the famous clean. My space trip trick and drip dry your toilet bowl brush. No toilet bowl brushes obviously are made from plastics so throwing them out and replacing them with a new. One isn't the best thing given the environmental situation. So the longer we can keep our plastic toilet. Bowl brush is clean and functional the better if you want a time line.

39 I'd say inspect yours once a year and if it looks kind of grungy at that point you can replace it but if it's still working and it looks pretty clean. It's probably fine. There are three different types of towels that you'll find in a bathroom. There's your washcloth your hand towel and your body towel. Let's start off with the washcloth I replace my washcloth. After every use I don't see any point in reusing the washcloth. It's not comfortable and also when I use it. I typically use it to take makeup off so there's lots of makeup left behind. I think it comes out better in the wash and it saves me from having to scrub it under a running faucet. I also find that washcloths provide a nice level of exfoliation and I never want to redeposit dead skin cells or old makeup back onto my face. So my general rule is one and done with a washcloth when it comes to a hand towel. These two meet like when I go to someone's house and I don't see a fresh hand towel. I'd rather wipe. My hands on my jeans then use their gross hand towel.

42 I don't know what it is. But these have always sort of freaked me out. I think these are important to change out very regularly in our house. We change about twice a week. We have multiple on hand what do you think about it. You know you're doing stuff in the bathroom you're using the hand towel. Maybe you did wash your hands or maybe someone who knows who it was did wash your hands. Maybe they didn't we don't know why they were touching it. We don't know how they were touching it one of the things I love about our makers. Clean hand towels is that they're made out of microfiber so they actually don't trap bacteria. The same way that a cotton terry towel does so if you're interested in that I will put a link to our hand towels down below and that brings me to towels just your regular bath towels. I change my note depending on how I feel I change them out either once or twice a week. But I find if you hang a towel to dry and it dries properly and it's not smelling and of course. Our towels don't smell the makers. Clean towels I'll link those down below for you as well. I don't see a reason to change them out more frequently but if you're using a cotton terry towel and it's not drying properly. It'll get smelly and it won't feel good so you might want to change a Terry towel more frequently. Maybe twice a week but typically microfiber. Towel can last you about a week and I love to know in the comments down below how frequently do you change out your bath towel and don't be shy everybody's got a different opinion.

07 On this I just think based on what I know about bacteria and odors the timelines that I've set out they feel right to me I'm not a dentist. Although I did want to be one when I was growing up. Yes I aspired to be a dentist but I can tell you that your toothbrush in your toothbrush holder those definitely need attention in the bathroom. In fact your toothbrush holder is one of the dirtiest spots in your bathroom and that's because our mouths carry so much bacteria with them and they're located right by the sink in close proximity to the toilet. There's toilet plume which is the spray that comes out of the toilet that carries bacteria with it. So you can only imagine. The toothbrush is sort of a magnet for all the things and the toothbrush holder is the wet sloppy little cup where the toothbrush sticks all right. That's a pretty gross place in the bathroom. If you ask me now your toothbrush itself. It can be fairly easily cleaned if you want to disinfect your toothbrush say someone in the house was sick or you were sick and you want to disinfect. It. You can just soak it for 30 minutes in a mixture of equal parts. Rubbing alcohol and water give it a very good rinse and then you can use it and it will be fine. But typically a dentist recommends that you change your toothbrush every three months or so or if you notice there's an indicator strip on your toothbrush head whenever you see is starting to faint or if you see your bristles starting to splay out. That's a pretty good indication that you have to change out your brush. Now. The toothbrush holder that is super gross and a very easy fix for that is to put it on the top rock your dishwasher and just give it a good cleaning. I would even do that once a week because it does get so disgusting and then you can replace it in the bathroom. Now recently I have switched back to using a manual toothbrush at the recommendation of my dental hygienist who said it is better for my particular teeth. So what I've done instead of getting a toothbrush holder because I do find them quite. Gross is I actually just put my toothbrush on a washcloth and I changed my washcloth out every week did you know that there are hair brushes that you can buy that are hundreds of dollars.

16 I've never tried one of them but apparently they are heavenly and until I get my hands on one of those I am using your run-of-the-mill drugstore hairbrush now in terms of cleaning your hairbrush. We made a video on that a long long long long long time ago but the methods are essentially the same and I really believe in cleaning your hair brushes actually prior to making that video. I really never had cared about cleaning my hair brushes and then once I did it once I made that video it was like a whole. New world was revealed to me and I am like grossed out but those old disgusting hair brushes so taking good care of your. Hairbrush is very important why because your hairbrush basically captures everything that comes off your scalp including hair but also oil hair product dead skin cells all the stuff that comes off your scalp. It leaves this like kind of scummy a sort of buildup. It's gross but then if you brush your hair with that dirty hairbrush. It actually redeposits all of that stuff back into your scalp which makes your hair less shiny and kind of more greasy. So not a good look for anyone when it comes to cleaning your hairbrush I'm gonna link that video for you down below. I would recommend that you do it monthly and what I'm doing now to remove hair from my hairbrush. I keep an eye on it. I do it about a couple times a week. I just take the end of a rat tail comb and I pick out the hair and it takes seconds and it just keeps the hairbrush nice and clean and now that you know how to clean and when to replace all the things in your bathroom that brings me to this week's comment question which is what do you think is the nastiest grossest thing in your bathroom for me. It's a toss-up between the hand towel and the toothbrush holder but let me know in the comments down below what gives you the heebie-jeebies in the bathroom.
